Q: Does my printer need to be set up in some way to accommodate heavy paper weights?

A:  In order to print cardstock, you will need to change your printer settings, i.e. change to a thick or heavy cardstock setting.  This will allow the ink to better adhere to the paper.

If your printer is having trouble feeding the paper or printing clearly, try using the “manual” or “by pass tray” on it.
These typically will handle and print heavier paper, because they feed 1 sheet or just a few sheets at a time, at a slower, more direct path through the printer.  Also, you can check your printer settings to see if there is a “Heavy Paper” option.
