Leave a margin on your postcards!

by Raki Wright | Last Updated March 9, 2009

Leave a 5/8″ margin at the bottom of each postcard. Sometimes the Post Office places a sticker with a bar code at the bottom. If you leave that margin available, then you won’t lose any information.  See the USPS site for more information.

Recently our company tried to obtain a Heidelberg Windmill Press. After much searching, we came across 1buynsell.com owned by Bonnie Dean (see information below). He is a broker for used equipment and lists various equipment for sale on his web site. We found a press on his site (www.1buynsell.com) and began working out the details to purchase it. We were given the name of the original owner (located in Denver, CO) and called him to talk about the machine (its condition, etc.) After the call we were satisfied that the machine would be a serviceable piece of equipment for us. On December 8, 2008, we contracted with Bonnie Dean, Buy-Sell, Inc. for the equipment. At his request, we overnighted a check to him that same day to cover the press and shipping. Bonnie Dean received the check and deposited it on December 9, 2008 and it cleared our bank on December 10, 2008. However, since that time, he has given us multiple excuses as to why he has not been able to ship our press. For example: couldn’t line up the riggers to put the machine on a pallet, couldn’t get a truck lined up, holidays, couldn’t get the press released because the owner was retiring, but needed to run more jobs (!?), were just some of the excuses we got from him. Eventually he gave us dates of the rigging finally being done, dates when the press would actually ship, and expected delivery dates so far none of these dates we have been given have turned out to be true. During the process, we have found that his local Better Business Bureau (Eastern KY) has received multiple complaints about this man and his business, most of which go unanswered. They have given him a grade of “F”. Here is the BBB writeup: http://bluegrass.bbb.org/codbrep.html?wlcl=y&id=20000805 In subsequent email discussions over the matter, he has told us he would send us a refund and call us with a tracking number of that refund, which has not happened. We believe the original owner of the press (located in Denver CO) to be a reputable businessman. At our company president’s last discussion with the original press owner, he said the press has been rigged on pallets for shipment since last August. He also said Bonnie Dean, of Buy-Sell Inc. has not paid him for the press in question, nor has Dean contacted the press owner about any shipping arrangements. Dean has quite a bit of equipment listed on his website. ( www.1buynsell.com ) We have also found other businesses listed as being owned by Dean: 1BuyNSell.com
Buy Sell Online Inc.
Buyers & Sellers Exchange, Inc.
Printers Buy & Sell, Inc
His other contact information is as follows:

The address Dean lists as his business address is a PMB – Postal Mailbox.

Blank, Printable Admission Tickets

by Raki Wright | Last Updated December 2, 2008

Burris Computer Forms announces blank, printable admission tickets, which users can design, print, and distribute with any customized message.

Clubs, organizations, individuals, businesses, and many others use printable admission tickets, with a tear-off stub. Admission tickets can be used for holiday concerts, performances, movie screenings, or other holiday attractions. Printing admission tickets is a very attractive alternative to having them printed. It normally saves money because organizations can print as many or few admission tickets as they need. With the additional perforation, organizations can keep a stub while the attendee also holds a portion for admission. With blank admission tickets it is very convenient to print them in-house.

Users can design and print the blank forms with any message using many different software programs (including Microsoft® Word & Microsoft® Publisher) on a copier, inkjet, or laser printer. The blank forms can be used by organizations for several different events throughout the year.

The blank forms are available on 8 ½ x 11″ sheets perforated four times, for easy separating, yielding four admission tickets with one stub per ticket. Colors include White (three grades), Baby Blue, Classy Cream, Cool Gray, Key Lime, Rose Wine, Sockeye Salmon, Wild Canary, Goldenrod, Popping Pink, Sonic Green, Tangerine, and Sun Shine. The advantages of printing in-house include fast turnaround, low cost, control of the project, and ability to print a few, or thousands, quickly and cost-effectively.
