Easter Marketing with Postcards, EDDM, and Door Hangers

Easter can be a great time to get the word out about your business. Many people associate Easter with the start of Spring and will start looking for Spring time products in their area. If your business sells something Spring-y now is a great time to get a message out to your potential customers about it!

Postcardseaster marketing

  • Uses  – Postcards are an easy and effective way to quickly get your direct mail campaign out. You can use them to send out sale notices with a “Happy Easter!” message on the back. If you’re a bakery perhaps you could offer limited time egg-shaped cookies. Craft stores could offer discounts on egg dyes and baskets. Your options are endless, but remember to make your message and call to action clear!
  • Colors – By using colored postcards you can stand out against the standard white envelopes without using a lot of ink. Some good Easter colors to use would be green, yellow, blue, or pink. Purple is also an Easter color but it can be hard to legibly print on too dark of a purple.
  • Postage Costs – Postage for postcards is only 32 cents per postcard. You can use this handy tool from the USPS to calculate the postage for your postcard direct mail campaign.

Every Door Direct Mailers

  • Uses – Every Door Direct Mailers are great for local businesses because you can narrow your target audience down to the route. This allows you to have the ability to “personalize” your EDDM mailers. You can send 300 mailers to the neighborhood “ABC Acres” with a map on how to get from “ABC Acres” to your store while at the same time sending 250 mailers to neighborhood “XYZ Farms” with a map from “XYZ Lakes” to your store.
  • Colors – Again it’s good to use color to stand out against the crowd. In addition to color you can take advantage of EDDM sizes. You can send out a 11×17″ bi-fold for the same price as a 6.25×11″ mailer!
  • Postage Costs – All Every Door Direct Mailers cost 14.2 cents per mailer to send out. Use the USPS’s Web Tool (you can use the Demo without having to login) to plan your EDDM campaign and calculate postage costs.

Door Hangers

  • Uses – Using door hangers is an easy way to market without having to worry about the post office or postage costs. They can be used for many local businesses by hanging them in neighborhoods surrounding the business. Businesses that aim to help the disabled or elderly (such as physical therapy centers) can market with door hangers and not have to worry about their target audience having to lean over to pick a flat piece of paper off the ground.
  • Colors – Any color would be suitable for a door hanger since there are often more people advertising via direct mail that via door hanger. Using greens, bright yellows, and soft blues would be good for Easter marketing.
  • Postage Costs – $0! There is no postage cost for door hangers! However, you will need to find a way to distribute them. You can call on your friends and family to help or take some of your employees out on a nice day to hang door hangers. This would be especially good if you were advertising fitness!
