Package Inserts Can Help Improve Customer Service

Looking for a way to get your customers coming back for more? Try leaving a small insert or card in the package for them either thanking the customer for their purchase or giving them a special deal.

Why include inserts?use package inserts to increase customer satisfaction

For starters, they’re already a customer; keeping customers happy and returning should be one of your top priorities. By just sending them a little thank you or early notice about an upcoming sale tucked in with their order, they’ll have more of a reason to spread the word about you.

What kind of inserts should you include?

1. Gift Cards

If you have customers that are spending a lot of their time and money with you (and have been for years!), why not drop them a gift card? It could be a gift card to your store or one to Starbucks. They’ve been giving you their business for years, why not give a little back?

2. Coupons

Have a coupon deal going on? Why not drop a coupon in with a couple of orders to raise awareness? Even if you don’t have a physical store you can print out a couple of quick coupons with online discount codes on postcards and drop them into the outgoing orders.

Have a rebate deal? You can use postcards with a removable stub for them to tear off and return to you in the mail.

3. Early Bird Notice

Giving someone an early notice about a good deal is a nice way to say, “Thanks for shopping with us!” This is especially so if you restrict the Early Bird notices (or even some deals) so that you can only get them if you’re a long time or repeat order customer.

4. Thank You Cards

Everyone likes a little common courtesy every now and then. If you don’t have it in your budget to offer any special deals or coupons you can, at the very least, say thank you. Still on a short budget without offering discounts? Just sending a nice thank you to new customers is a friendly way to show your customers you care.

5. Contest Ad

On the other hand, if you do have it in your budget to run not only deals but large contests as well, don’t forget to let your current customers know about your contest! Drop an advertisement into each customer package about that awesome contest you have going on to help spread the word about it.

What can you use for an insert?

There are a couple ways you can slip an insert into your packages: Cards, Inserts, Tear-Off Slip from the Shipping Label Sheet, or even postcards.

Blank Note Cards or Greeting Cards

Create and print your own Thank You Cards to give your customers a unique experience with you. When you design your own cards in house you can add your logo and company colors to the cards and then print them out on an as-needed basis instead of having to get thousands done all at once.

Blank, Printable Inserts

What better to use as a package insert than, well, an insert? You can get paper that’s perforated into thirds to print out coupons, contest ads, thank you notes, etc. This type of paper is small enough to fit in most packages but not so small as to get lost among the packing material.

Printable Postcards

For sending out coupons and early bird notices you can print four postcards on the same sheet to get more postcards per printer pass. If you’re looking to print a large number of coupon postcards, you can also print eight postcards per sheet using a printer that can print on 11×17″ paper.

Those who have a rebate offer can use postcards with a detachable stub to send out. Your customers can simply remove the stub and mail it back to you in order to receive the rebate.
