Once you receive an order, there are three main processes within order fulfillment. Pick. Pack. Ship.
Pick: A pick ticket includes information required to pick itemscontained in an order including order number, item or part numbers, quantities order, and other internal information.
Pack: A packing slip contains order information, shipping information, and other internal information.
Ship: A shipping label comprises a shipping carrier’s barcode, shipment method, shipper account number and return address, shipment address, and may include internal reference numbers.
According to dictionary.com, “simplify” is to make less complex or complicated; make plainer or easier.”
The best way to simplify order fulfillment is to use a form that can include all three elements. This way you can not only save paper but also save you time by not having to wait for three separate sheets to print out before you start picking and packing. It also makes things easier when you only have to look at one sheet instead of three separate sheets.
