A Time and Money Saving Recipe for 11×17 Postcard Sheets

by Chelsea Camper | Last Updated December 30, 2015

Using 11×17″ tabloid postcard sheets can save you time and money on several fronts:

  • Save on metered printing by printing more postcards per click
  • Fewer sheets of paper to buy when you buy 11×17″ sheets with eight postcards per sheet
  • Can be up to 50% faster since you’ll be printing twice as many postcards per sheet over the four per page postcard sheets
  • Save on postage by mailing postcards instead of envelopes

Here’s a great recipe for 11×17″ postcard sheets to help get you started printing your own!

Recipe for 11×17″ Postcard Sheets:11x17 postcard printing recipe card

Recipe Name: Fast and Affordable Postcard Printing with 11×17″ Postcard Sheets

Prep Time: 5-15 minutes

  • Load Printer: About 5 minutes to load the maximum amount of sheets your printer can handle
  • Open Document: About 10 minutes to find, open, and double check the document you’ll be printing

Cook Time:

  • Designing the Postcard: 30+ minutes depending on the complexity of the design and how many people have to sign off on the design before it can be printed
  • Preparing the Printer: 5-10 minutes to turn on, load, and adjust printer setting to print on postcard paper
  • Printing the Entire Print Job: Varies greatly depending on how many postcards you’ll be printing

Required Ingredients:

  • 11×17″ postcard paper
  • Approved postcard design
  • Printer ink/toner

Necessary Equipment:

  • Computer for designing the 11×17″ postcards
  • Printer capable of printing on 11×17? (tabloid) paper that is 200gsm (or 53 Bond lbs) thick

Preparation Steps:

  1. First, download the blank 8UP postcard template for Microsoft Word® or Publisher®.
  2. Next you can start designing your postcards, if you haven’t done so already. You’ll want to make sure you take space for the stamp and address into consideration.
  3. Once your design is finished you should print one sheet (front and back) to make sure your design lines up with the postcards on the sheet and that your printer is properly set up. If the ink isn’t sticking well to the paper try slowing the speed of the printer down by using a thicker paper setting.
  4. Everything look good? Great! Now you can send the rest of your print job to the printer!
  5. After everything is printed (or even while the printer is printing) you can start detaching the postcards from each other and bundling them up to be sent out to the post office.

Serving size (Yield size):

1 fresh postcard print job done right.

Flavor of Finished Dish:

The finished flavor should be a happy wallet from the money and time saved with using 11×17″ postcard sheets.
