Traditionally, place cards show where guests are to be seated by displaying names at a particular seat.  However, it is becoming increasingly more popular to print table numbers on place cards in order to direct guests to the table they are assigned to be seated at parties, weddings, banquets, or other special occasions.  Often, place cards are designed to add to the table d®cor.  Sometimes, they match the menu cards and table cards.

weather resistant barcode tags

My inventory is outdoors in harsh weather conditions, but I want to use barcodes to track inventory. What should I do?

The new 6-UP Blank Printable Weather-Resistant / Tear-Resistant Tags?

  • made from a special weather-resistant and tear-resistant paper for staying power and to withstand rough conditions
  • six pre-perforated tags per 8.5 ” x 11″ sheet
  • each tag is rectangular shape
  • each tag measures 2.83″ x 5.5″
  • pre-drilled 0.25″ hole at the top of each tag

The new tags can be printed using laser or inkjet printers or copiers. (The tags can be printed using inkjet printers, but inkjet ink is NOT weather-resistant. Ink toner printed with laser printers IS weather-resistant. Burris recommends using laser printing for outdoor and other moisture-exposure applications.)

The new tags can be used for several different applications such as retail tags, warehouse tags, price tags, inventory tags, warning tags, discount tags, bag tags, inspection tags, auction tags, jewelry tags, shipping tags, key tags, product tags, barcode tags, hazard tags, refrigeration tags, plant tags, chemical tags, nursery tags and ornament tags.

Burris Blank Printable Tags? are tags that can be printed by a user using one’s own PC and printer. The user can create his/her own tag content and layout using existing software such as Microsoft WORD or Publisher ®, and print immediately using his/her own existing printer. No additional hardware or software is required.
The tags come 6-up or 8-up on blank, printable tag paper that is 8.5″ x 11? to fit in all printers, are pre-perforated for easy detachment into individual tags, and have a small hole pre-punched for affixing to products, bags, vehicles, keys or other items. The user can print as many or as few as need, with “No wait. No waste.”(SM) Blank, printable tags provide the additional advantage that they can be used for several different tag applications within an organization. Burris provides free templates for use with Microsoft WORD and Publisher.

How do you get labels for FedEx shipping?

by Raki Wright | Last Updated June 7, 2011

fedex shipping labelQ:  I am looking for shipping labels for our FedEx boxes. I see you have a few different types. Which would go best with the FedEx.com website?

A:  The 2 main shipping label sheet layouts (print shipping labels and packing slip or pick ticket on the same sheet) that are compatible with FedEx shipping are the LS-U (one 7.5″ x 5-1/8″ label) and the LS-6x4BL (6×4″ label).  The LS-U has 1 perforation, so that the top portion can be used as a pick ticket or packing slip, and detached.  The LS-6X4BL also has 1 perforation, so that the top portion can be used as a pick ticket or packing slip, and detached.  In addition, the LS-6X4BL has an area to the right of the shipping label that can be used for marking internal notes.

Another option would be to print the labels 2up or have the entire sheet as the label and combine a packing slip on the bottom portion; both of these options would require special software.  If you want to print the labels 2up, you could use the LLS-8.5×5.5-2up.  The software we use in order fulfillment is Shiprush for FedEx Shippers.

print your own invitations

Blank postcards are an effective, easy and inexpensive way to send graduation invitations, birthday party invitations, and baby shower invitations.

By printing your own postcards, you can quickly communicate time-sensitive needs, while saving time and cost. Blank postcards save labor, time, and money because there’s no folding, stuffing, or sealing. No special equipment is required. All that is necessary is a personal computer and inkjet or laser printer or copier.

Postcards (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) can be mailed at $0.28 apiece, saving up to 35%* on postage expenses. How to Make Your Business Greener

by Raki Wright | Last Updated May 31, 2011
how to make your business greener

Learning how to become more environmentally responsible can be overwhelming.  Recently, we came across an article from A Sustainable World that gives 6 practical pieces of advice to get you headed in the right direction.

Decide to do it as a company. See our practical tips: how our office handles recycling.

Determine which areas to make changes in. “Analyze the business operations with an eye toward reducing energy consumption and waste – Common areas to consider are lighting, powering your equipment, heating, air-conditioning, transportation and water use.”
Pick the easiest first. “Find steps you can accomplish almost immediately, said Mr. Bowman, and then build from there with actions that cost nothing or very little to apply” – What are the easiest products to recycle?
Invest in energy-efficient equipment. [and supplies…recycled paper, recycled note cards.]

Be honest and clear about the changes you’ve made. You can’t really say your company is “green” and all you do is recycle your soda cans.
Review your results periodically.   Once a quarter, year, or as often as you can find time, evaluate what you’re doing, how it’s working, and where you can improve.

print pick ticket and packing slip

Question: My company would like to start printing our packing list on the computer but I’m not sure which of your products would best fit our needs. We are using Microsoft Word 2002 and a laser printer.  We will need to be able to hand the customer a copy after they sign. What do you advise?

Any shipping label sheet would work. It’s easy to get started with a  shipping label sheet template for Microsoft Word. A popular label sheet form features a 2 1/2″ x 4″ label (in top right corner or bottom left corner). It fits the need for an address label perfectly, and you can perform a mail merge to print out several orders at once.

If you are using a printer with 2 trays or feeds to speed up order fulfillment, you can print 2 copies of the packing list:

a) one copy printed on a shipping label sheet

b) another copy printed on a sheet of plain paper

If your customer doesn’t need a signed copy, then you can either print out a second copy of the packing slip or simply make a copy for the customer. This last method would work best if the customer needs to have a copy with his signature.
